RACHEL BEETZ
Composer and flutist, Rachel Beetz explores presence through listening. She combines experimental field recordings with electronically modified flutes to create glacial ambient experiences based on her deep listening adventures. Her projects have been featured in concert halls and galleries in Australia, Iceland, India, the United Kingdom, and the United States. As a flutist, her playing has been described as evoking the “roar of prehistoric animals”. Her debut solo album Script – Rescript on Populist Records features five newly commissioned works for flute and electronics. You can also hear her on Blue Griffin, iikki, Neuma, and Populist record labels. She is co-director of wasteLAnd music in Los Angeles and teaches at Moorpark College. |
