Joshua Nathan Rubin is a founding member, clarinetist, and former Artistic Director of the International Contemporary Ensemble. As a performer, the New York Times has praised him as, "incapable of playing an inexpressive note." He has collaborated with many of the foremost composers and performers of our time, and this season is featured in performances in New York, Los Angeles, Ojai, Miami, Kansas City, Chicago, Portland, Houston, Geneva, Bergen, and Berlin. He serves on the faculty of The New School, and is an Artist-in-Residence at UC Santa Cruz in 2024. He is also a software designer who developed LUIGI—arts management software used by over 700 artists, staff, and administrators in 2024—that is available to ensembles and other organizations who value transparency and collective management. He maintains an artistic presence in New York and Los Angeles.
