Rolf Wallin:
LautLeben
for voice and tape
The piece was a commission from the Norwegian Broadcasting Company for their series RadiOpera, and was written for and in collaboration with the Norwegian singer Sidsel Endresen. Instead of an orchestra, the improvising singer is placed in a soundscape made almost entirely by computer manipulations of her own voice. What she sings is totally without words and totally improvised, only with certain guidelines given by the composer. There is however a text, consisting of short passages by the writer Øivind Hånes spoken by himself over the telephone from his home in Cologne. The latest important element of the world of LautLeben is the addition of Tone Myskja's specially created stage video, premiered 2006.
